Collection: Artist Collection: Clara Clough

For Boston-based artist and designer, Clara Clough, art was an influential presence in her life from a very young age. Pursuing a career in the arts was the natural path for her. Clara’s parents recognized and supported her passion by engaging her in art programs throughout her childhood. Clara’s grandparents exposed her to the worlds of both visual and performing arts, fueling her curiosity for the value of cultural experiences. Clara began sharing her art on Instagram in 2017 to develop and sharpen her awareness of what other artists were creating in real time. Through Instagram, Clara discovered the possibilities that exist creatively and in business. Drawing upon those experiences, Clara has launched her career selling artwork nationwide. 

In growing her online presence Clara has been offered opportunities to exhibit her capabilities. For the past two summers, Clara has been chosen for Art in the Park, an outdoor art installation and auction held in Chatham, Massachusetts. She has been commissioned to create paintings for clients in a variety of mediums and at sizes up to 6 ft long. She has worked closely alongside interior designers on projects creating artwork for custom-designed spaces. In 2020, Clara began hand-painting Christmas nutcrackers, a product that became so popular she found herself fulfilling orders through the summer and into the next fall. Clara’s Nutcrackers is due to launch this November. She will be hosting her first pop-up shops this holiday season at Charles Mayer & Co. in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Three Buoys & A Mermaid in Hingham, Massachusetts. Clara hopes to collaborate with more clients and brands in the future and pave her way in the art retail space. Alongside running her art business, Clara is a full-time graphic design student at a Boston art college.
